Do you still wait tables?

I do.  I intend to for quite some time.  I would not trust someone who wrote a book about serving, but was not a server.  When I was writing this book, I would outline a chapter days before I wrote them.  I would then go into work and test the techniques I outlined.  Even if it was something that I had been doing for a decade, I focused on that particular technique for a couple techniques.  Throughout the editing and rewriting process some of these techniques were improved upon.  This book could not be as good as it is if it was not written by someone who was testing what he was writing on real guests in a real restaurant.

I do work fewer shifts than I did when I was writing the book.  The owner of my restaurant and my coworkers are incredibly helpful in allowing me to take time off to do consulting and marketing work.
